Anyone could've expected this, since I FINALLY got to see The Great Mouse Detective yesterday!
Ofcourse I already knew Basil from the many comics that were published in the Netherlands the past twenty years, but Basil's personality is kind of missing in there. Not very strange, I have no idea how you could put his manners into a comic.
I made this sketch while watching the movie, it turned out okay. His face isn't perfect, but I like it for a first (especially if you compare it to the other times when I first tried to draw a character). Maybe his eyes should be a little bit closer together... or maybe not. Since one little sketch is not enough, I guess there'll be more soon!

Oh, and character © Disney...

Wow! simply amazing how you got it perfectly and fast.
I loved that movie when I was a kid! I saw it again sorta recently, still great stuff. =D
Couldn't help you out with his face. I haven't seen the movie recently enough to remember his features exactly.

I WILL RUIN THIS HOUSE WITH MY ANGER
Y'know, I used to listen to old Sherlock Holmes radio show recordings when I was a kid, and then I saw that movie, and never really thought of Basil Rathbone (whom, you may be interested to know, is the name of the man who voiced Sherlock Holmes in the radio shows, and is whom Basil himself is named after >_>;) the same way again. Heh.

I like this. Brings back pleasant memories of my childhood. Y'nailed it.

I remember my favorite scene in that movie was the fight in the clock tower because of all the gears and stuff... now I am going to have to dig it out again and watch it :D

I am Darkwing Duck in The Disney Directory's Disney Character Claimers'
That movie had some great character designs, I think the face you drew is quite accurate. Comparing with images from the film, I would say his eyes could be a bit bigger and the eyeball behind the eyelids is more oval and smooth but as far as placement... they seem correct. The lighter face color should reach closer to his eyes which may be why you blame the eye placement.

I love the accents... especially Olivia's and Fidget the Bat's voices
